ABB

ABB pushes the boundaries of technology to drive performance to new levels, by connecting software to its electrification, robotics, automation and motion portfolio. With a history of excellence stretching back more than 130 years, ABB's success is driven by about 110,000 talented employees in over 100 countries.

A senior organizational development executive reached out to BIS, seeking to provide participants already enrolled in a six week multi-day Servant Leadership program, with an additional experience designed to increase enrollee engagement, commitment, and connection with others in the program.

BIS co-created with the Program sponsor integration of an Emergent Conversation series designed to afford Program participants an opportunity to experience a safe work-provided virtual place and time to meet others, respond to and share individual experiences and responses to highly relevant and explicit questions about present ABB changes and challenges; and based on their session experiences, to self-organize and maintain the group’s connection and conversation, going forward.

The outcome of BIS’s contribution, unprecedented in ABB history, was an agreement by and between the participants in the full series of BIS events to meet bi-monthly going forward; and that each person would bring an acquaintance to the post-Program gatherings. This emergent, unsolicited, informal, self-organized and self-motivated manifest outcome reflected the power of and pull experienced by the participants, to connection, conversation, and each other; and, with sufficient appeal and attraction that it rose to that level of value and priority for each of them to continue into the future.**
