Becoming Generative:
A New Organizational Paradigm

The new paradigm of Being In Systems is neither new nor a paradigm.

Our offerings are rooted in knowledge and wisdom traditions that originated in ancient times. Once upon a time, humans lived in tribes that were in balance- with the natural environment, each other, and the way in which they responded and created in service to their collective needs. Human generative potential is at the center of all collaborative creative endeavors.

Traditional organizations of today have been modeled in service to economic drivers in fixed structures, systems; and power, control, and authority imposed and asserted by a progressively smaller and more concentrated central management authority. The reduction of employees to units of production, subject to industrial era evaluation criteria is to marginalize or ignore the intrinsic human energetic, creative, innovative, and inspirational potential they hold, as living beings.

Failure to recognize and prioritize these human experiential, emotional, energetic and spiritual dimensions within the context of people working together is to create an experiential, emotional vacuum, inviting fear, alienation, and disillusionment. This vacuum has a corrosive effect on attention, performance, morale, and cohesion by and between human beings who are collaborating.

We place our focus on the human beings who comprise today’s organizations; and, that reawakening the ancient felt, sensed, conscious connection, by and between the people within the organization, to themselves, each other, and the world the organization serves, is the key to unleashing exponential generative potential, resilience, creativity, and values alignment to the organization, its purpose, and value-add to the world.

The question most often asked is, “How do you do that?”

Through our service offerings, we have evolved an internally centered, co-creative and emergent approach that enables and empowers the individuals within the client organization to design, develop and evolve their own transformative movement. By catalyzing this emergence, we serve to “infect” the organization, as a living organism, with an emergent transformative experiential whole-entity-awakening, created, embraced, embodied, and energized by its people.

BIS’s difference lies in its focus, not on the who, what, where, when, and how of the generative process; but rather on the “why” for the people so engaged, and the “way” these people relate to and experience co-creation together. Both of these dimensions of human generative experience speak to the level of intentional commitment, belief in, felt sense of, connection to, and ownership of responsibility for the value created and offered to the world.

The closest corollary within the frame of current HR practice is expressed in terms of “Employee Engagement.” This lens, as most commonly applied, has only three expressions: actively disengaged, actively engaged, and not engaged.

The empirical and simpler truth is that true caring, commitment, consideration, passion to purpose, and present moment awareness are all fundamental to all human collaborative generativity. For BIS, all human actions, expressions, and manifestations are part of, and intrinsically interdependent within a living collaborative generative field.

The evolution and transformation of today’s organizations, to meet the demands of our ever-changing world, and ever-escalating challenges are both essential and non-discretionary; and, the shift to a human being-centered, values-centered, experientially conscious, and emergent operational transformation is the means to that end.
